Meet Alex Alvarez, a distinguished real estate professional and the co-founder of The Upstate Untapped Team at Compass in Hudson, NY. Since embarking on his real estate journey in 2018, after a vibrant career in the high fashion photography, film and advertising sectors of New York City, Alex has brought an unparalleled aesthetic vision and a deep appreciation for architectural beauty to the Hudson Valley real estate scene.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Alex found his first passion in the arts at a very young age, beginning his work in fashion photography at the tender age of 16. His illustrious journey through the fashion industry included the successful launch and operation of his own post-production studio, The Scale Studio, at the age of 21, roles in post-production at Milk Studios, Velem, and an earning a position as an Executive Producer at Art Partner, one of the top photo agencies in the world. His expertise in visual presentation was further refined through his studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he mastered film processing, photography critique, and darkroom printing. These experiences endowed him with a unique skill set that he expertly applies to creating striking and attractive real estate listings.

What truly drew Alex to real estate was the freedom and flexibility it offered, along with the opportunity to make a significant impact in people’s lives by helping them find their perfect home. He is particularly captivated by the historic and architecturally diverse homes of the Hudson Valley—an area he proudly serves, applying his keen eye for detail and a calm, supportive approach to client relationships.

Outside of real estate, Alex enjoys photography, music, traveling—particularly his memorable times in Japan—and exploring the cultural offerings of various global destinations. Currently residing in the picturesque village of Athens, NY, he enjoys the tranquility and stunning Victorian architecture that the area offers.
